Travelling to Formentera in winter

Formentera is not only the perfect destination during the summer, traveling to Formentera in winter has many advantages if you want peace and quiet and enjoy the island’s most authentic essence.

The only thing to bear in mind is that not all accommodations, restaurants or establishments are open during the winter months, however you still have a wide offer available, often frequented by residents that makes visiting Formentera in winter a unique experience.

To get to know and tour the island you will need a vehicle, we are open all year round so you will not have problems to rent a car or a motorcycle with us, we recommend you book online in advance, you will find our office in the same port where you arrive from Ibiza.

Here is a summary of things to see or do on the island:

Beaches: Although the water is cold, you can walk, relax or admire its turquoise and crystalline waters. They are all very different and spectacular, here are our top ten: Ses Illetes, Es Ram, Platgetes des Caló, Es Arenals Beach, Cala Saona, Es Pujols Beach, Caló des Mort, Migjorn Beach, Llevant Beach, Es Racó de s´alga Beach

Villages: They all have a special charm: Sant Francesc, Sant Ferran, El Pilar de La Mola, Es Caló, La Savina and Es Pujols

Viewpoint: A mandatory stop is the viewpoint of Formentera, from which you can see the entire extension of the island and all its landscape.

Lighthouses: The two most important are the lighthouse of La Mola and Es cap de Barbaria.

Defense towers: They were built in the 18th century to guard against possible pirate incursions that constantly plundered the Mediterranean coast. Located in strategic geographical points and at sufficient distance to communicate through smoke signals, even with Ibiza.

Mills: One of the most curious architectural elements that we find in the landscape of Formentera are the windmills used to grind grain, wheat, being a staple food, was very important on the island.

Green routes: A great plan in winter, Formentera has 32 green routes that can be toured on foot, doing Nordic Walking or by bicycle.
